The Blind Guy identifies the mystery of misplacing stuff
You rarely lose things. But you do often misplace them. And this is not mundane as you think.
The reason this is a mystery is: in order to misplace a thing, 2 separate things have to happen.
1) You do something out of character, placing an item in another, often inexplicable location.
2) Then, you experience amnesia.
Think about it and you’ll realize it’s true. When you misplace an item, you experience 2 separate, distinct malfunctions working together in a 1-2 sequence.
you eventually force your mind to recollect the event. Often after rifling through your home. But when you do, you may not explain your action.
A common cause of misplacing things is you experienced a distraction. The distraction startles you in some way, causing you to act out of instinct, like putting your car keys in the potpourri. The distraction acts as a barrier to your automatic action.
Next time you are missing something, maybe instead of rifling your home, just ask yourself what happened, then do something else to engross your mind for a bit. After a few moments, you will have your memory back and you can get your missing item.
