The Set Up behind the Curtain

1. Setting up a domain creates a folder on your web host. The installation app then downloads WordPress, unzips the files, and loads them into the folder created for your domain. In essence, “installing” means uploading files.
2. It creates a database for you, along with a database user and password, and adds that information to a configuration file within your WordPress folder.
3) it adds your admin username & password to your new database so you can log in.
4) It adds your tagline & email address to another configuration file in your WordPress folder.
5) A step I had to do in the past that someday won’t be needed anymore. But I often go to Settings>Permalinks and press the Save Permalinks button. You may want to select what your page urls look like, but it usually doesn’t matter since each page has its own url name called a “slug”.
