The best way to experience this Demo

Welcome to MemeWeb

This is a new technology, it takes some getting used to. Do not expect to learn the whole thing in one visit. We hope you will come back to this site to learn a little more each time.

ASTRA – Advanced Semantic Tree retrieval Agent

The Astra interface, the Advanced Semantic Tree Retrieval Agent is a tool the Blind Guy wrote in Javascript/jQuery as part of a WordPress plugin. It is the prototype of the interface for what we call the MemeWeb. We believe this is a new Web Paradigm comparable to Google, but designed for learning. To borrow a crypto-currency term, it lets you mine knowledge from the net.

The Tree Panel

Select a Tree

This contains 3 kinds of trees:

  • Classic. A souped-up version of the WordPress Search Page with categories & Works the Blind Guy created using WordPress
  • Athena Meme type: Simili Technologies. The Athena Learning Tre`e Tree dedicated to the content in the MemeWeb Concepts or Simili Technologies content. This is a set of generated tag-trees with a variety of flavors. Use this tree to read up on the Technology.
  • Athena Meme Type: Works. An Athena Learning Tree covering all things related to the Blind Guy portfolio & work experience.

At the start of Demo3, the technology generated 61 trees, 1 Classic tree & 60 Athena Trees. You see a Classic tree & 2 Athena trees with 5-6 flavors each, for a total of about 12 trees. The 3 sets of trees you see are there because the Blind Guy selected them for the demo.

Select a Flavor

The technology generates Athena Trees for the entire Site, tree branch category and flavor.

Each Athena Tree is associated with a set of top tags/concepts called . Each meme in an essence has its own themed, or flavored, tree, all its posts containing .

that flavor as a tag.

Select the flavor that piques your interest.

Flavor is an Athena feature, not available for Classic.

Time to discover

When the ASTRA Interface loads, the Classic Tree & the first category, MemeWeb Concepts is selected by default.

When you select an Athenatree, the first flavor is selected by default, and the first category of the tree., which is the same as the flavor. We call this the Flavor root.

If you re-select a tree, the tree re-appears. If you select a new tree, it pops up on top of the older trees, which are all collapsed. You only see one tree at a time.

The Category & Context Panels

Basic Info

You see the current category. We may add other information here later on.

Essences

This shows the top set of tags, or memes for the current Category, its branch & for the overall site., Essences are a great way to quickly fill you in on what kind of content a thing covers.

Sort modes

By default, results are displayed in the descending order each post was created. You can also sort by Updated as well.

There are 3 different Relevance Scores, Category, Branch and Site. Each post has a set of these scores, showing how well their post tags match the essences mentioned above.

The Context Section

This is an informational panel, sort of like a You are Here map at a Shopping Mall. It is for the benefit of Data-Science professionals & people interested in this sort of thing. This panel ends with the NID, the node, or link, tag, category ID, and the TRID, the Tree ID. These IDs are long & stuffed with meta-data, or meaning. Someday they may be scattered into the Web wild.

The Orchard & Results

The Orchard

This is where the Trees are. The Demo starts with the Classic Tree. If you select an Athena Tree above, or an Athena flavor, it will close and another tree will appear above. The Demo has around a dozen trees in all, and they may pile up in the Orchard. That’s fine. Go climb trees.

The Results area

When a Tree Category is selected, excerpts for the posts attached to it appear here. You can click on the title or Read More link to read the full article.

We hope these excerpts give you a good enough idea what knowledge is present for that category & its branch.

The Classic Tree is similar to a WordPress archive/search page. You can search for particular posts there. For Athena, things are different. Each Flavored tree covers a portion of posts in your site, all posts that have tagged with that flavor. And each link in the branch/pathway only shows posts tagged with the preceding link. This is done to give each tree & each link a focus. This is why we suggest you look for a pathway you like and step through each link, looking at the excerpts..

How to Browse, discover, wander

Do not overthink this. This technology is designed to exploit your brain’s obsession with patterns & connections. The philosophy is…

Follow your bliss. Read what stirs your curiosity.

The basic pattern is, click the root elements first & scan the excerpts. Read full articles if you want here. Click down the branch, look at the excerpts, read full articles if you want. Check out other branches. Repeat till you start seeing familiar items.

Classic, Athena Works, then Athena Technologies

Classic Tree

The demo starts in Classic mode, and the first category in the Simili Technologies tree. It also has the Blind Guy’s original portfolio tree, Works.

First, you should visit About this Demo about the features of the ASTRA Interface. Then, read the post One Weird Tree

Read excerpts and any full article you wish. It will open in a new tab.

Athena – Works

This is your first experience with the MemeWeb technology. It’s small, relatively orderly & quiet.

Under the Choose a Tree is the Choose Flavor section. The first option, #AI is already selected.

Explore the default flavor, or select another.

ASTRA clicks the first item in the tree by default, which is the flavor root and is the same as the current flavor. This has all the articles you will find in this tree.

Browse through the excerpts, read any post you want.

You can choose another flavor, or choose the next tree…

Athena – Simili Technologies

Then it gets wild. This is a full-blown Athena tree.

It is much longer. It has several sets of branches. Treat each as a pathway.

Choose any pathway with tags or concepts that seem interesting to you.

By default, you will be on the first, root, flavor category. All the results for the entire tree will be on display. Browse them. Then, click a category like The Blind Guy.

Each branch is progressive. If AI is the flavor root, and under it is The Blind Guy, the Blind Guy posts will have an AI and The Blind Guy tags. If the next link is Knowledge, each post will have a Knowledge & The Blind Guy tags, and so on.

This gives us a Progressive chain of context branch, which can also be called Reticulated or Articulated Thisalso naturally sorts branches by number of posts. This is how we manage to turn a flat set of tags into some form of pecking order, or hierarchy.

This also means a Terra Cognos category may not include the post about Terra Cognos. We can claim this as a feature or admit this as a compromise, this is not a true search technology but a learning tool, and we need to enforce the rule so we have a reason to select a bunch of tags & put them into some hierarchy. This is a new technology & we may figure this out how to do better later.

Is this worth the price? Yes, it is. When you have multiple posts with multiple tags, you get tag clusters that look like a neural network. Our brains crave patterns & juxtapositions, we believe our MemeWeb technology feeds your brain with easily-digestible knowledge, making complex, chaotic content understandable.

And if this works, and you are able to better understand the many concepts herein, MemeWeb has the basis for the Internet Library of Humanity, Terra Cognos and the Internet University, Academia Humanitas.

This won’t always work. If you run into confusion, switch to the Classic View until your mind settles, then, switch back to Athena. This feeds your brain too.

The rave goes on

You can stop here if you want, or grab a snack. Yes, you can go for the donut, it’s good for your brain.

If you want to play some more. click another flavor or click the other 2 tree buttons. You can recall old trees or keep calling new ones. Each time you do, a new tree appears and the old tree will go out of view.

About Relevance Scores, Stars & Memes

The MemeWeb is based on tags, trees, posts & Essences.

Essences are a set of the most popular tags of a collection of posts. The entire site samples all the posts, while Categories sample just a few. Essences are memes that describe what content you will find in the entire site, a tree branch or category.

Each post tags are compared to the Site memes, the current category memes and its branch memes. This gives us 3 Relevance scores. We are not sure how you will like this and it may go away in the future. But you can sort posts by how closely theymatch their category, branch or the site.

We believe this set of scores will play an important role as we improve MemeWeb technology. If a post has 5 stars category-wise & 1 star site-wise, it’s a developing narrative & perhaps the site owner should publish more posts about it. If a post is 5 stars category-wise and site-wise, but the set of tags are completely different, the post is covering 2 or more topics, and each tag set is an essence for each topic.

If you do not like them, ignore them.
